Hi,
We teach how to use the epi pen in all our first aid and CPR classes. All our directors and usually the Asst. directors must take this class. We do not have nurses at our camps. Hope this helps.

  Subject: [NYSRPS Member] EPI Pen

  Hello!
I am wondering what other Recreation Departments do about EPI pens. We have also been instructed not to administer medicine, however, it seems like more and more children are needing to carry around an EPI pen to do allergies. What do you tell your staff? What do you tell your parents? Does it differ if you do or do not have a nurse on board? Does a first aid certification change anything? Any guidance would be appreciated. I am asked to re-evaluate our policy and then propose something to the town attorney.

  Thanks for your help!
