[NYSRPS Member] 2008 Legislative Platform and Advocacy Guide

NYSRPS Members,

The New York State Recreation and Pars Society (NYSRPS) Executive 
Board at its December 11, 2007 meeting adopted the 2008 Legislative 
Platform. The Platform is available for download off the NYSRPS web 
site at http://www.nysrps.org/pdfs/08_Leg_Platform.pdf.

You will notice that the format has changed, to make the platform 
easier to mail to both NYSRPS members and the lawmakers that may 
represent you.  It is the hope of the NYSRPS Executive Board that you 
will support the items on the platform in the following ways:

	*  Send the platform to your elected officials.
		- A sample letter to do this is also attached.
		- A directory of Senator email links is available at: 
http://www.senate.state.ny.us/Senatorbio.nsf/Public_MemberEmail?openform
		- A directory of Assembly members is available at: 
http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/

	* Take action when you receive state and federal legislative alerts.

	* Visit your elected officials at their local offices to 
introduce yourself as a concerned constituent as well as a potential 
resource. 

*	 Attend the Legislative session at the 2008 NYSRPS Conference 
to learn more about the legislative process and the NYSRPS Platform.

Please also keep an eye out for a hard copy of the Platform to arrive 
in the mail later in January.

information with bill numbers for this legislation are also available 
at the NYSRPS website at http://www.nysrps.org/legislation.shtml.
