NRPA MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL AWARDS NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED
The Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of NRPA is accepting nominations for
the "Michael B. Berman Special Fellow Citation" & "Connie Romanello
Special Citizen Citation" awards. The deadline for the awards is April
30, 2008.
Special Fellow Citation prospective recipients should meet the following
requirements:
1. Hold membership in NYSRPS and NRPA.
2. Be registered/certified by NRPA/NYSRPS or by the National
Certification Board.
3. Have rendered a high degree of service to NYSRPS by active, faithful
and consistent participation on committee and/or special projects.
4. Have demonstrated that by his/her leadership the organization for
which he/she works has reached a usually high level of effectiveness and
service to constituents.
5. Be of fine moral character.
6. Have worked on a full-time basis in the field in excess of 10 years.
(One/more of above may be waived if nominee has been outstanding in
other requirements.)
Special Citizen Citation prospective recipients should meet the
following requirements:
1. Have demonstrated that his/her leadership and efforts has benefited
the field of Parks and Recreation in an extraordinary manner.
2. Have demonstrated active involvement in the field of Parks and
Recreation in excess of 10 years. (May be waived if he/she has been
outstanding in other requirements.)
3. Be of fine moral character.
For both awards consideration will be given to candidates who have
contributed to the progress of the recreation and/or park movement on a
state, regional or national level.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
1. Active membership on the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council or a committee
of the Council.
2. Active membership on a committee of the NRPA or one of its branches.
3. Demonstration of unusual leadership on a special project at the
state, regional or national level.
4. Influential in progressive action at the state, regional and/or
national level by speeches and/or published articles.
In addition to work in the field, the award committee will consider
participation in community service organizations/voluntary service, as
well as honors, awards, military service, etc.
