Good Morning,
The Marcellus recreation program uses buses from the school. We use them for
our summer swim program to transport children to an area pool, and we also
use them for summer field trips. The school then sends us a bill at the end
of the program. We do not have an after school program, but do offer some
field trips during school breaks and again we use the school bus and then we
are billed for that as well. Hope that helps.

To All:
I too am interested in these same items. I'm working as a consultant on
a Town Recreation Master Plan in CNY where the leap into doing more as a
Town Department always begs this same question. Any considerations we
should be thinking about and other related comments would be great. Thanks.

Subject: [NYSRPS Member] Transportation
Good afternoon! I am looking for some information regarding
transportation for Recreation Departments.
1) Does your recreation department own some sort of transportation for
program participants (i.e. bus, van, activity bus, etc.)?
2) If so, what kind of transportation do you provide and for what kind
of activities?
3) If no, do you provide transportation for any activities and if so,
how do you get the transportation?
4) Are there certain instances where you rent transportation rather then
use what you have in house? If so, how is that decided?
5) Do you have an afterschool program, and if so, how are the kids
transported to your program?
Thanks in advance for your assistance. Hope everyone is having a great
summer!
