[NYSRPS Member] Background checks

Hello NYSPRS members,

 

I was wondering if any municipality or organization has a written policy
on doing their background checks.

 

For instance, do you make your returning and/or new staff aware that
they will be checked?  If there is a 'hit' when you are checking the
staff - do you handle it case by case depending on the offense found,
etc?  Do they sign anything agreeing to the background check?

 

I would appreciate any information available.
